Four workers of a defunct battery factory in the Carinthian valley of Rosental are confronted with its abandoned and decaying rooms.
For decades, the “Bärenbatterie” was the economic center not only of the village but of the whole valley. Over several generations, families have worked in the factory. In fact, most families had at least one member employed in the “battery”.
The interviews highlight the working conditions, the social functions of the factory, the health problems, as well as the population’s difficulty to understand, why "their" Bärenbatterie was closed.
